Eric in his Dodge Avenger ready for another run

Eric and the SRE Crew competed for the first time in 2001 at the Advance Auto Parts Southern Nationals in Commerce, Georgia, Eric's hometrack. The team could have dialed into a bracket race running two identical 7.177 and a 7.182 to go along with a 7.27 pass that was due to a malfunctioning 2-step that helped expire a clutch prematurely. Eric considered the weekend very successful under the circumstances. The Allen Johnson HEMI engine arrived at the track that Thursday. No test sessions took place. Eric had not driven since Houston of last year -October (6 months). The crew had not worked since last year. The front & rear ride height, 4-link, pinion angle, rear springs, 1st gear ratio, engine, clutch, & all 4 tires had all been changed since the last pass on the car last year. The setup was very mild due to the multiple changes and lack of testing The team made all four qualifying sessions and made a complete passes each time, the team looked as if they had been racing all year. It helps to have 4 MOPAR drag racers on the crew with Elijah Casey, Andy Mays, McNeal Freeman, and Eric turning wrenches. Allen and Roy Johnson were also a big help too providing the horsepower and experience of the 6th year MOPAR Pro Stock team. The SRE team is currently preparing to compete in Joilet, Illinois later this month at the Lucus Oil Product NHRA Nationals May, 31- June, 3. Performance increases are expected from the team in the ET and MPH departments. Eric is busy working on the car and engine with data gained from the Atlanta race, and hopefully, his efforts will pay off. As always, the team is in need of financial support. Eric can be contacted directly to discuss this matter.
